A Simple and Stylish Kitchen Storage Solution

A Simple and Stylish Kitchen Storage Solution. Check out how I added storage to my small kitchen without sacrificing style or space.

I’ve shared in the past that I like to keep things simple around the home. I’m not a fan of clutter and I’m very intentional about what we purchase. In order to make the cut, it must serve a purpose or be something I love. Our kitchen/dining area is very limited on space. However, I’ve been needing some additional storage since our pantry closet is tiny and our cupboard space is restricted.

I knew that I wanted a piece of furniture that would not take up a lot of space. I also wanted a piece that was stylish and had a bold color. I keep my wall colors fairly neutral, so I like showcase colors through furniture or decor. In fact, we recently painted the kitchen bright white so that our evolving kitchen color scheme (red and teal) will pop.

As you can see below, the space I chose for the furniture was tight and rather boring. I’m OK, with boring, but this was pretty uninspiring.

I found this beautiful piece by Sauder that fulfilled both of my requirements. This piece is a display cabinet, but in my case, it’s being used as storage. When shopping for a piece of furniture, think outside the box. Furniture can be multi-functional and doesn’t always have to be used for it’s intended use.

Although, I like to keep things simple. I still enjoy decorating and sprucing up our home. I used some items that I already owned to place on the cabinet and style it up a bit. Even a few pieces can make a big difference.

In case, you’re wondering, I only paid $10 for this “Family Rules” wall art which I purchased at a local dollar store.

I’m currently storing most of my food blogging dishes and mason jars in the cabinet. I also have a few books, crayons and activity books that belong to my toddler in the canvas bin.

I truly love everything about this cabinet; the added storage it provides, the deep red color and it’s stylish look. If you want more details on the cost and measurements, you can find it on the Sauder website here.
