Because I’m not perfect

changes

I’ve been doing a lot of praying and reflecting about the direction of this blog. I love being able to share homemaking tips, recipes and reviews with you all. However, at times it feels like I’m not connecting with you all at the level that I envisioned. I never want someone to come to my blog and think “she has it all together”. The reality is that I don’t. I struggle just like many other moms do. In fact, yesterday was one of those days that I felt like I was going to crack under pressure. I even texted my husband’s those exact words – I’m going to crack. The poor guy must have realized that I meant it because he left work a little early and took care of dinner. He also woke up early this morning to help me fold laundry.

My point is that I’m an imperfect and flawed mom. Many times I’m overwhelmed by the sheer volume of responsibilities that are on my plate. I enjoy sharing the things that have made my life a bit easier, but there are times when I want to dig deeper. I want to share the good, the bad and the very ugly. Because that’s REAL life. My hope is to encourage you, but also help you see that you’re not alone and that you’re not a bad mom just because you ordered take out for the second time this week (speaking from experience). We have strengths and weaknesses, but celebrating the good is what I want to focus on. My responsibility is to keep my kids safe and do the best that I can as a mom. It may not always look pretty, but that’s OK. As long as they know that I love them and have done the best that I possibly can, I’ve done my job.

So what does this mean for my readers. It means that I’ll be sharing more personal posts with you all. You’ll get to see more of my daily life. Our homeschooling, my work-at-home life, and how I attempt to juggle it all. I also have a special treat in store for my subscribers that is truly taking me out of my comfort zone. However, I know it will be a blessing to many of you so I must go forward with it. I truly can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it. If you haven’t subscribed to my newsletter, please make sure to do so here AND confirm after you get the email so you don’t miss out.

So that’s it for today’s post. Nothing fancy, just an update on what’s going on in my neck of the woods and what’s to come. I hope you continue to follow along for the ride. 🙂

Thanks so much! I’m just now seeing this comment and truly appreciate it. It always feels odd opening up in a personal way. Thanks for listening (reading). 🙂

This is what the Internet should be – a place for everyone to come together and have that feeling of “I’m not alone in feeling like this” and being able to find comradery with those that share your interests. It’s a bit sad at how the Internet has, instead, turned into a place where people feel the need to share themselves only at their best, and to try and exclude people they feel that don’t 100% fit into their idea of what their friends should be (at least, that happens a lot in other places, not blogs (thank goodness!)).
I applaud you for wanting to to do this. Because, I admit, I look at your blog and think of you as a very strong woman who is able to balance a lot of things in her life. But, I tend to forget that this is only a snapshot – and I’m sure I’m not alone in doing that. There is nothing wrong with trying to share all the great things in life, but it is easy to read and forget that just because someone shares the good, doesn’t mean that they don’t have the bad.
Looking forward to your posts – and wishing you luck in the not-cracking-department 🙂
