Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays-Day 13 {15 Day Challenge}

Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays-Day 13 {15 Day Challenge}-Get your home ready for the holiday season with this 15 day challenge!

Welcome to Day 13 of the Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays Challenge! This weekend we celebrated our baby girl’s birthday and we had a wonderful time. It was sweet to see her enjoying herself and somewhat knowing that we were celebrating her. She kept telling everyone “it’s my birthday!” and that pretty much went on for the entire weekend.

Needless to say, all major projects were put on hold since I was busy focusing on cooking, cleaning and prepping for her birthday. Now I’m going to share a few of the things I was still able to accomplish, but keep in mind that this was spread out over a few days when I had “downtime”.

Here are the tasks I completed (and some that you can also work on):

Deep clean the vinyl tile floor (hallway/common areas)-

For this job I used a bucket of warm water with a little Oxiclean. The trick is in the sponge. I use the abrasive side to really scrub and get into the small crevices. It’s amazing what a difference hand scrubbing the floor can make. Even if you mop regularly, the floors will have dirt that won’t come off that easily.

De-cluttered bedroom drawers-

I knew that I would be switching up the furniture, so I figured it was good time to purge the dresser drawers. I got rid of old pajamas, clothes and miscellaneous junk I was holding on to.

Swapped the bedroom furniture-

We finally swapped out the bedroom furniture and I love how it’s coming along. I didn’t get a chance to go paint shopping yet, but it’s on my to-do list for this week.

What I plan to work on next:

Next, I plan to tackle our outdoor space. I wish I had worked on this last week since we had gorgeous weather. I haven’t even looked at this week’s forecast, but I have a feeling it’s not going to be as nice. My plan is to rake up the leaves, trim some dead branches and plants. I also plan to clean the doorway and outdoor entrance area. I will also be putting up my fall wreath which I haven’t done yet.

How are you making out? Is your home holiday ready yet? I still can’t believe that Thanksgiving is in a few weeks! I’m looking forward to relaxing with the family and eating lots of yummy food. As always, feel free to share your progress!
