Philly Cheesesteak Fries. Baked french fries topped off with steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms and melted cheddar cheese sauce for the perfect game time grub.

As I’ve mentioned several times in the past, our family is pretty hardcore about football. Not only does our son play it, we also enjoy watching both college and professional football games during this time of year. It’s also a great time for our family to be together while cheering our favorite teams and munching on some of our favorite game time grub.

Today’s recipe is one that we have made several times in the past and it’s truly a family favorite. We tried to stick to the traditional Philly Cheesesteak style, but you can tweak the toppings according to your preference. Did I mention that my favorite team hails from the same city the Philly Cheesesteak was born? Yup, and I still have hope my team will make it to the big game one day. 🙂

Philly Cheesesteak Fries

Ingredients

1 bag of Alexia Smart Classics Crinkle Cut Fries
1 lb thinly sliced rib eye steak (you can ask the butcher at your grocery store to slice it for you)
1 small onion
1 green and red pepper
1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese dip (such as Cheese Whiz)
mushrooms (optional)

Directions

Bake the Alexia fries according to package instructions. The great thing about these fries is that they are 98% fat free and 100 calories per serving. So I can have my game time food and not feel guilty about it.

Slice the onion, peppers and mushrooms and sautee in pan, set aside. Cook your steak until well done. We like to add Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor along with the typical salt and pepper seasonings. Add the onions, peppers and mushrooms to the steak and mix well.

Add the cooked steak mix over the baked fries. Melt the cheese in the microwave according to the package instructions. If needed, add a little bit of milk to help the cheese melt easier. Drizzle over the steak and fries. Serve immediately.
