The first year of a baby’s life is like a huge whirlwind. You go from a having a newborn baby that relies 100% on you, to a toddler that wants to explore and be independent. My baby girl is 15 months old today. I still can’t believe how quickly time has passed by. That’s why it’s so important to document your baby’s firsts. The other day I was going through some photos and it was amazing to see the changes she went through in just the first 15 months of her life.
So how can you keep up with all the firsts and milestones your baby experiences? Today I’m going to share with you 5 ways you can record your baby’s firsts so that you can preserve all those precious moments.
5 Ways To Record Your Baby’s Firsts
1. Photos (lots of photos!)
Taking photos is probably an obvious one for most parents, but sometimes it’s also easy to forget once your baby is out of the newborn stage. I find that using my mobile phone it’s a much easier way to capture the unexpected moments. It may not be a professional photo shoot, but it’s not about capturing amazing shots it’s about capture amazing moments. Taking mobile photos is also a great way to share instantly with family and friends through text or social media.
2. Baby book or scrapbook book
Even if you’re not super crafty there are many baby books and scrapbook templates on the market to help you record your baby’s precious moments. Most come with blank lines or even prompts to help you with the process. It’s so much fun to look back and go through the book once your kids are older. Ultrasound photos and footprints/handprints are all things you can place in the baby book.
Aside from photos, video is also a great way to capture your little ones firsts. Moments such as their first steps or first words can recorded and shared for many years. Photos are great, but there’s nothing better than seeing actual footage of your baby. They grow up so fast that being able to capture them interacting with their siblings or other family members is priceless.
4. Memory box
Sometimes a photo or video is not enough to capture a milestone or memory. That’s where a memory box comes in. This is where you can place your baby’s first outfit, first pacifier, lock of hair, hospital bracelet or anything else you want to keep. It’s a great and simple way to preserve your baby’s keepsakes.
5. Baby calendar
A baby calendar is a similar concept to a baby book, but it allows you to record important dates with stickers. You can also add a photo of your baby for each month. It’s so neat to see how much they can change from one month to the next. The baby calendar you see below is part of a great giveaway going on right now!
