A delicious Turkey and Swiss Slider recipe that you can serve your family on game days or at anytime!
My family loves watching sports. Whether it’s football, basketball, baseball or soccer, there’s always a game playing on the television during the weekends. In case you haven’t heard, the Gold Cup soccer games are currently being played.
I love how the Gold Cup brings families together to celebrate and root for their national team. The Gold Cup is also a great way to introduce children to other cultures including our own. It’s been fun keeping up with the games and trying to predict what team will win.
In our home, game time also means yummy food. So I took a trip to Target to pick up a few things. I grabbed a few snacks, drinks and ingredients for my sliders. When it comes to game food, you want to keep it simple, however, you don’t have to sacrifice taste for simplicity.
I like foods that are easy to make and easy to clean up. The less mess I have to deal with, the more time I have to enjoy the game with my family.
Plus, it’s easy enough that even my older kids can make put it together without any supervision. That’s my goal, find enough easy recipes that my kids can make so I don’t have to cook anymore. 😉
This slider recipe is super simple, and I found it online a while ago. There are several versions floating around, but most have the same basic ingredients.
You can make easily bulk it up by adding more turkey deli meat or swiss cheese. If you prefer a variety of deli meat, go ahead and add ham or whatever your preference is.
You can also add Worcestershire sauce and/or poppy seeds to your melted butter instead of dijon mustard. It’s truly up to you, and both versions are great!
Have you been watching the Gold Cup games? What are some of your favorite game day foods? I would love to hear from you!
Turkey and Swiss Sliders
Ingredients
- (2) 12 count pack of Hawaiian Rolls
- Turkey deli meat
- 12 slices of swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 2 tablespoons of dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder or minced onion
- Mayonnaise (if desired)
Instructions
- Slice the rolls down the middle and place the bottom half in a pan. I put 12 rolls in one pan and the other 12 in another.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise and dijon mustard on the bottom half of the rolls.
- Layer with turkey deli meat. I used about 12 thin slices for our sliders.
- Add the slices of swiss cheese and cover with the top half of the rolls.
- Melt the butter and add 2 tablespoons of dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon of minced onion (or onion powder). Some recipes also add Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds. It's truly your choice and either way it will taste great!
- Spread the melted butter generously over the top of the rolls and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
