Virtual Doctors For Busy Moms

Virtual Doctors For Busy Moms. A look at my personal experience using Amwell's services and how busy moms could benefit from this new way of visiting the doctor.

Like I’ve mentioned a few times around here, my toddler has entered a very interesting phase. She’s throwing tantrums, testing her limits and at times, she’s flat out refusing to listen. She’s also showing signs that might indicate that she’s ready for potty training. Although, I’m not sure if it’s just my wishful thinking playing tricks on me.

All of these things started to happen after her last doctor’s visit. Since we don’t have another well visit scheduled until she’s 2 years old, I was excited to hear about a new service offered by Amwell. Amwell is a telehealth company that connects you with board-certified, licensed doctors online. The Amwell doctors are available to speak with you live, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from the comfort of your home.

If you’ve been following me for a bit, you know that time is precious to me. I rather spend it doing something with my family, so waiting in a doctor’s office to ask a few questions is not my definition of fun. Amwell makes it very simple to get started. I only answered a few simple questions to set up my profile. Once I logged in, I tested my computer to make sure everything was good to go for my live visit. I also needed to provide some background information about the reason for my visit. If your visit requires the doctor to take a look at something, you can also upload photos prior to the visit. However, it’s not necessary since you can always show them via webcam live.

Once logged in, you’ll see which doctors are available to speak with you. You’re able to view their profile which includes their credentials and background information. Once you decide on the doctor you would like to speak with, simply click the “Start Visit” button to get started. You might have to wait a few minutes in the “Waiting Room”, but nothing compared to a waiting room at a doctor’s office.

Just like I suspected, my little one appears to be ready for potty training. Although the doctor suggested that I take it easy and stop if she shows any signs of frustration. Regarding her behavior, the doctor mentioned that some toddlers hit the “terrible twos” phase before they even turn two. She’s just testing her limits and getting more vocal a little earlier than the norm. I wasn’t necessarily thrilled to hear that, but at least it explained the shift in her behavior.

My personal experience with Amwell was an all-around positive one. It was easy to get set up, I didn’t have to leave my home  to speak with a licensed doctor and I was able to try it for free without having to provide any financial or insurance information. If you would like to give Amwell a try, simply go to their website or download the app and enter the code MOMSQUAD to get a FREE visit! You’ll find a variety of licensed physicians to choose from including registered dietitians.
