Welcome! My name is Jesenia Montanez, first name pronounced “Ja-sen-ee-ah”. I’m a Latina blogger living in Central Pennsylvania with my amazing husband and awesome children. My oldest is a college freshman and my youngest is a very energetic preschooler. Around here we love to laugh, eat good food and have fun. There’s never a dull moment around here and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m a self-proclaimed foodie that enjoys binge-watching Netflix shows, getting lost in a good book, and planning our next family adventure.
Why I write
I have always enjoyed helping others, and for many years I worked in the non-profit industry. Over five years ago I lost my job. I had zero savings and no backup plan. I transitioned into the role of stay-at-home mom while trying to revive my virtual assistant business. We were slowly able to get back on our feet after several setbacks, but I never allowed this period in my life to knock me down. Instead, I chose to dust myself off and pursue my dream of entrepreneurship with even more determination.
Although my degree is in Business, I always had a knack for writing. In 2014, shortly after the birth of my daughter, I decided to launch The Latina Homemaker. My goal was to help busy moms through simple homemaking solutions and encourage them to focus on creating memories with their loved ones.
Over the years, this site has evolved along with my role as a woman, mother, and wife. Instead of sharing decluttering tips, I much rather entice you with a delicious recipe from my childhood. I also enjoy sharing stories about my family, my Latino culture, my journey as a businesswoman, and our travel adventures. That’s a little bit about me and what you can expect here. I’m happy you stumbled on my little corner of the web!
