This will be the second summer in our current home. Although I know we will probably be moving in a couple of years to head down South, I still enjoy improving it and making it a home that my kids can create memories in. Typically, I try to limit projects and household chores during the weekends because I want to focus on my family. However, this particular day I was very busy and I had several projects I needed to work on. Then my kids mentioned that it was going to be warm and rain-free. That triggered an impromptu day outside that included good times and good food.
First it started with my kids setting up the fire pit that was stored up in our basement begging to be used. I also swept and hosed down our patio area to get it ready for the day. My baby girl loves going outside and hung out with my oldest blowing bubbles while my husband fired up the grill.
What I enjoyed about our day outdoors was the spontaneity of it all. We had no real plans and simply made the most of a gorgeous day while having a blast together. Seeing my kids play and laugh is simply priceless and worth skipping a day of work for.
Did I mention there was food? Yeah, my husband took care of the grilling and kept us very happy.
We also got to test out our new fire pit that night by roasting marshmallows.
Which soon turned into s’mores making. However, I left that to my husband and the boys.
I was more interested in taste testing like my little guy.
Although my outdoor is limited to a small area, we make the most of what we have. I plan to spruce up the space with some fresh flowers and some help from BEHR.
