Christmas is less than two days away. And if your heart just skipped a beat, you’re not alone. Even when I make tons of plans, there’s always something I miss. Which also means I wind up running around like a mad woman trying to pick up last minute things.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busy frenzy leading up to Christmas. With that said, I wanted to share a few last-minute tips to help you avoid stress and enjoy the holidays.
Last-Minute Tips to Avoid Holiday Stress
Start with a list
You know that you have things pending, but not you’re not sure where to start? Create a list that includes everything that needs your attention. Last minute gifts, food and house tasks should be included. Once you have it sorted it out, you’ll have an easier time prioritizing your time. Don’t forget to enlist the help of your spouse and older kids to handle some of your tasks. In other words, don’t try to do it all.
Consolidate your shopping
In order to make life easier on myself, I try to avoid going to several different stores. If you know you have to pick up a gift, hosting supplies plus an outfit, go to a store that can offer all of these things. I recently stopped at my local JCPenney store and knocked off several items off my list including the beautiful dinnerware seen in this post. I love that JCPenney offers style and quality at a great value, plus their holiday collections will fit both your lifestyle and your wallet. JCPenney is the leading destination for the fashion, home and beauty trends you love and trust. Affordable quality is a must for this frugal gal!
Treat yourself
The holidays can be stressful even when we try to simplify things. So remember to take a time out for yourself to do some of your favorite things. I personally love to bake, or read and sip on a good cup of coffee. Even a little bit of time to myself helps me recharge and continue on with my day energized. I found these fun stackable coffee mugs at JCPenney, so I can enjoy my coffee in style. 😉
Get a head start
If you plan on having guests over, don’t wait until the day they’re stopping by to begin cooking and setting up. Create a meal plan and ensure that you have all ingredients available to avoid extra trips to the grocery store. If you’re making a dish that can be placed in the refrigerator, make it ahead so it’s one less thing to worry about. You can also set up the dining table a couple of days ahead to save time.
Let it go
It doesn’t matter how organized you are, it won’t always go as planned. The holiday season will come and go quickly, so remember to embrace these precious moments with family and friends. If you forgot to bake cookies or do an advent countdown, it’s OK. Your family won’t care nor remember, so give yourself grace and enjoy the season.
