During the holidays, it’s very easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season. It’s one of the reasons why I like to focus on creating memories with my family and making the season memorable for my children. Simple activities that only require the gift of time allow me to connect with my family and make the holiday season special.
With the help of Echo Dot Kids Edition, we’ve been able to connect over some of our favorite holiday activities. My daughter is at a fun age where she enjoys all things Christmas, but she’s also at a stage where she wants to know ALL the things.
Luckily, I don’t have to answer every single question since she can now ask Alexa. From “Alexa, how many days until Christmas?” to “Alexa, where’s Santa?“, she’s having fun getting all of her questions answered.
Enjoy holiday stories & drink hot chocolate
One of our favorite things to do is read holiday books by the Christmas tree with a cup of hot chocolate. We’ve also been listening to holiday books together through Audible via Alexa, or simply enjoying holiday music.
I know these moments spent together will be what my children remember about their childhood, and that makes my heart happy.
Even when I try to keep things simple during the holiday season, I can’t avoid having a busier month. Plus I work from home which makes things a bit interesting when the kids are on winter break.
Thanks to FreeTime Unlimted, my preschooler has access to kid-friendly audiobooks, music playlists, and several skill-building apps to keep her busy while I juggle work. I like that I can use the Parent Dashboard to set time limits, filter content, and create education goals. My daughter favorite feature – Alexa’s knock-knock jokes.
Bake holiday treats & watch Christmas movies
Another holiday tradition is baking treats to enjoy together while we watch Christmas movies. I have several holiday recipes that I like to rotate throughout the season, but when I want to switch things up, I can ask Alexa to help me find a new cookie recipe. That’s a win-win for this mama.
Drive around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights
And no holiday season is complete without a letter to Santa. If your child needs a little help creating a letter, just have them ask Alexa for a little help. After they mail their letter, take a little detour and drive around your neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. It cost nothing and the kids will have a blast.
