5 Tips For a Great Start To Your Day

My family is always busy and on the go. Between work, school, extra-curricular activities and everything in between, sometimes I feel like we belong in a three-ring circus. 😉 However, I find that following a morning routine helps tremendously. So today I’m going to share with you some tips that helps our day get off to a great start.

1. Start the day before.

Lay out the clothes you plan on wearing the night before and have your family do the same. Also place any items that you need to take with you near the door (i.e. work bag, keys). This will get your morning off to a smooth start.

2. Get up earlier.

I’m not one of those people that was blessed with an internal alarm clock (how do y’all do it?), but I do find that when I set my alarm to wake up earlier than the rest of my family I get a lot more done in the morning. Having the extra alone time enables me to tackle some of my to-do list before my work day begins.

3. Exercise.

I can’t stress how important exercise is. Not only is it great for your physical health, but it also gives you the energy you need to tackle the day. Even squeezing in a few minutes of exercise will give you more energy than skipping it altogether.

4. Avoid distractions.

So you decide to check your email, only to realize that 30 minutes have passed by. Sound familiar? Your best bet is to stay away from emails, social media and anything else that will distract you. You’ll have plenty of time to address those during the day.

5. Eat breakfast.

I’ll be honest, I’m guilty of skipping breakfast when I’m tight on time. Trying to figure out what to make while crunched for time is not easy. However, breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. When I can find a breakfast option that is nutritious and super easy to make, it’s a win-win. So imagine my excitement when I discovered that Tyson Foods has introduced its first line of breakfast items-Tyson® Day Starts™ breakfast sandwiches!

Now these are not your typical breakfast sandwiches, Tyson® Day Starts™ products only use high quality ingredients. I’m talking real cheeses, zesty vegetables, fresh eggs and high quality Tyson® sausage, ham and chicken. Seriously, these sandwiches offer protein-rich goodness all around. Tyson® Day Starts™ sandwiches are available in seven varieties, including biscuit sandwiches, breakfast flatbreads and wrapped omelets.

My kids had breakfast flatbreads that were topped with scrambled eggs, sausage and cheese (on the left). My husband and I had omelets filled with ham, onions and green peppers wrapped in a thin crispy bread (on the right).

The breakfast sandwiches were ready to eat in less than two minutes! In fact, my son looked confused and asked; “Just microwave and that’s it?!” These sandwiches are perfect for busy families like mine that are pressed for time in the mornings, but still want to eat a wholesome breakfast. Not only are they easy to make, they are yummy! Fluffy eggs, veggies and delicious meat, needless to say we all enjoyed our breakfast. Here they are still semi-awake, but enjoying their breakfast.

These tips seem so simple, but it’s obvious that I’m not following them when my days start going haywire and I’m HANGRY by 10:30AM! Eating breakfast and waking up a little early are key to me being productive each day!

    • Jesenia Montanez says:

Ha! I have days like that too so I know the feeling. I agree, waking up early and a good breakfast are key for a great day. Thanks Jenn!

I always need a quick way to get out the door. I get up early, but trying to get something good for the kids. Loved your pictures of your babies eating them.

    • Jesenia Montanez says:

Hi Candi! Yes, I agree the hardest part is coming up with a meal idea. Thanks for visiting. 🙂

  3. I definitely agree with all of these — I told my husband I need to allot 30 minutes per kid to get ready before I have to be anywhere …. so with 5 littles at home, I’d better be getting my act in gear 2 and 1/2 hours ahead of time! No waiting until the last minute around here – it’s impossible!

    • Jesenia Montanez says:

So we’re not the only ones that take FOREVER to get out the door? We even joke about it because we start getting ready several hours before we have to go somewhere, otherwise we don’t make it on time. Thanks for visiting Dianna!

  4. Waking up early is the only thing that keeps my blog going! I need those extra early daylight hours! 😉

    • Jesenia Montanez says:

I agree Krystal! Early daylight hours are awesome. 🙂
