Welcome to Day 5 of the 7-Day Purge Challenge! Last week we worked on the kitchen, living room, entryway, bathroom and master bedroom. For today’s challenge we’ll be focusing on the closets and drawers in the master bedroom. Yay for progress! I find that this is often a neglected area, so I wanted to dedicate a separate day for it. I had plans to work on it over the weekend, but I decided to pause and take a much needed break.

I did get a tiny head start last week while working on the master bedroom, however, I’m sure I’ll still have plenty to do when I tackle our closet. Our closet space is tiny, so it doesn’t take much to fill it up. My plan is to purge ruthlessly, and get rid of anything we don’t (and won’t) use.

Here’s how I plan to tackle the closet and drawers:

  • Empty out every drawer, and only keep the items that belong.
  • Only keep clothes that we currently wear.
  • If something doesn’t fit or hasn’t been worn for the past year, out it goes.
  • Take donation bags out to the car, and drop off as soon as possible.

As always, if you feel like the challenge is too overwhelming for one day, spread it out over several days. It’s better to make some progress, instead of giving up altogether.

Make sure to join me again to see my progress and share your own!

**UPDATE**

I thought I could pull this off yesterday, but I forgot that we had to attend a graduation for my sister-in-law. Instead, I worked on it today while my kids were busy with school work and my toddler was watching cartoons. It went quicker than I expected, and I love how it looks now.

In order to make this tiny space work, I store all of our fall/winter clothes in bins to give us more space. I also store my husband’s shoes in an ottoman that’s at the end of our bed. Our everyday clothes and pajamas, are folded and placed in our dresser.

This is the tiny pile of clothes I’m going to donate, so I guess my recent purging session made a difference after all.

How did you do with this challenge? I’d love to hear about your progress!

Last time I “purged” I’m not sure I really “purged” I still have plenty of things I could… I will get rid of.
