How The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration Changed My Blog

How The Disney Social Media Moms Celebration Changed My Blog-After attending the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration I was inspired to make changes. Find out why.

I’m baaaaaack! 🙂 Well I’ve been back for a few days now, but it has been really hard getting back into the swing of things after being gone for almost two weeks. We’re finally getting back to normal around here. I know some of you are bloggers or work in social media, so I wanted to share some of my takeaways from the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.

First, let me start off by saying that if you ever get invited to this amazing event, you must go. My expectations were seriously blown out the water and I left feeling both inspired by and renewed. As much as I would love to share every little detail from the event, for this particular post I want to touch on how this event changed the direction of this blog.

When I started this The Latina Homemaker, my goal was to monetize it through ads, sponsored content and affiliate sales. My plan worked, and within a short amount of time I was making an income from blogging. It was truly a dream come true after many failed business attempts. Although, my goal was to monetize this site, I also wanted to encourage and inspire moms. Yes, I have been providing content that shares tips or encouragement to busy moms, but not at the level that I wanted.

After listening to some amazing speakers at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, I truly felt that I could be doing a lot more. Every speaker, encouraged me and pushed me to think about the reasons why I write. Initially, my goal was to do something that I love while contributing financially to my home. But it always felt like something was missing. Writing became redundant. I wasn’t inspired to write like before, and I had a hard time coming up with topics to share with you. Ever notice how bloggers tend to write about the same topics over and over? Sometimes it’s because we know our audience enjoys the topic, but other times it’s because we don’t know what to say so we fall back on what everyone else is doing.

Going to this event helped me realize that I was doing it all wrong. That I was going with the flow and following the rest of the blogging crowd. I had to ask myself the following: What if I did something different? What if I decided to share the things I’m actually passionate about? Listening to the amazing speakers that included a young girl by the name of Vivienne Harr, whose mission in life is to put her compassion into action, was the kick in the rear that I needed. Vivienne inspired a room full of grown women and men that day to take action. Why? Because she showed her passion for the causes she believes in. She didn’t let her age or lack of resources stop her from taking a STAND.

Then there was former football player, Donald Driver, whose words moved an entire audience to tears. Why? Because of his passion. Notice the trend? Passion is what moves and inspires others to act. If I share a post simply because I believe it will be popular or go viral, then I’m doing it for all the wrong reasons. Yes, I might reach “success”, but it in the end I’m not being genuine with you or myself.

I could go on about this topic, but for now I’ll leave you with some of my favorite quotes from the event:

“Take the focus off ourselves and turn it on the world that needs our help.” ~ Vivienne Harr

“When you can put your power of passion behind it, you will create something special.” ~ Donald Driver

“Emotional connection inspires people to share.” – Jessica Shyba

I was invited to the 2015 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I received discounted and complimentary items from Walt Disney World and sponsors. I was not asked to write about my experience. All opinions are 100% my own.

That is amazing to hear and I couldn’t agree more with that feedback you got there! I’ve found the audience follows the passion when you are authentic and true to your passion and giftings! Sounds like God is up to big things here, Jesenia! Thinking of you xoxo

Yes, to everything you said Sybil! It’s easy to lose sight of that when running a business, but in the end, I love what I do and the people I share it with. Thank you for the encouraging words. xoxo
