How to Be More Productive While Working from Home

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CORT Furniture Clearance Center. All opinions are 100% mine.

As the owner of a small online business, I have the ability to manage day-to-day tasks remotely. Although I enjoy getting out of the house to work from my favorite local coffee shop, most days are spent working from home. That’s why it’s crucial that we move to a home that allows me to set up a cozy home office to work without interruptions or distractions.

With all the changes we’re experiencing, it’s very important that I can continue to have my own space.

Working from home has its benefits, that is why over 40% of the nation’s workforce does it, but it also comes with its own set of challenges. Your work environment can affect your productivity level, and it’s one of the reasons I took steps early on in my business that would ensure I could run it from home. Today I’m sharing tips that will help you eliminate common distractions so that you can focus on what matters.

How to Be More Productive While Working from Home

Keep your desk clutter-free

I know this can be hard when your work involves handling a lot of paperwork, but keeping a space that’s free of clutter can greatly improve your productivity. The less clutter you have on your desk, the less likely you are to be distracted. Make it a point to put away documents and office supplies at the end of your workday. You’ll find that you’ll waste less time looking for lost items and you’ll be able to kickstart your workday right away. Even a few minutes of tidying up at the end of each day can make a big difference.

Schedule work hours

One of the benefits of working from home is having the flexibility to manage your own schedule. However, that doesn’t mean you work sporadically or fit work into your personal life. Early on I had to set boundaries and create a schedule that enabled me to work without interruptions. It’s the only way that I’m able to be productive and get tasks completed. Ensure that your work hours are non-negotiable, and let your family and friends know you’re not available during that time period.

Create an inspiring workspace

Creating a space that allows you to work and focus is key when working from home. For me, it means working in a space that is both functional and comfortable. Start with quality furniture pieces and items that will inspire you. I recently purchased an office chair at CORT Furniture Clearance Center which allows me to work comfortably for hours. This was a huge deal for me since I’ve always used whatever chair I could find around our home. I also like to put up inspiring quotes and keep a candle nearby that has a calming scent. These small changes have contributed to a workspace that I can look forward to each day. Even if your office is small you can get creative with these tips from CORT!

You can also incorporate modern home design into your workspace.
