For most homeschool moms, finding a job that offers a flexible schedule can be tough. I personally believe that the best solution for this, is to simply create your own income streams.
I know how frustrating it can be to hit a dead end after investing your time and money in a potential home business. So today I want to share a few income earning ideas that are perfect for homeschool moms that need flexibility for their busy schedule.
Freelance Writer
If you have excellent writing skills, freelance writing can be a great source of income. I suggest offering your service for free to a few websites or blogs in order to build your references and portfolio.
As long as you’re creating quality content that is exclusive and not copied from other sources, you’ll build a reputation that will help you gain new clients. I’ve seen articles sold anywhere from $30-$200 depending on the length, uniqueness, and whether or not the article includes photos.
Established writers that are experts in a specific niche, can easily charge more. I suggest checking out the website TheWriteLife.com, which offers great resources and tips on how to get started.
Tutor
As a homeschool mom, this can be a great way to put your skills to work. Perhaps you’re great with a specific subject, or you’re fluent in a foreign language. Consider offering tutoring services to other homeschool families and local students.
You can also take advantage of online platforms where you can teach virtually from home. One platform that offers this option is WizIQ. If you have some extra time in your hands, consider creating your own online course to reach students worldwide.
Amazon FBA
Amazon FBA is basically your own virtual store (on Amazon.com) where you can sell your products, while Amazon stores it and handles the shipping. I recently listened to a podcast on Brilliant Business Moms that went into great detail on how the process works.
I was blown away by the income potential it offers. Although it’s not something I’m personally considering right now, I feel it could be an excellent source of income for homeschool moms.
It does require some upfront costs to purchase items to resell, but you probably won’t find anything more flexible than this.
Virtual Assistant
As a former virtual assistant, I’m surprised that more moms aren’t taking advantage of this. As long as you have administrative or technical skills, you can offer virtual services to other businesses or individuals.
The great thing about establishing a virtual assistant business, is that it requires little overhead. Although I recommend having a website to reach potential clients, you can easily get started by creating a free LinkedIn account.

Blogging
Yup, blogging is my first love and I simply can’t leave it out. Most people think that blogging income can only come from a handful of sources, but truly the income possibilities can be endless.
If you have a lot of traffic, you can make a decent income from ads placed on your site as well affiliate programs (like Amazon). However, you can also monetize your blog by partnering with brands to create sponsored content on their behalf.
There are also several bloggers that sell their own eBooks, courses, products and services. I’ve even been offered opportunities to work behind the scenes with companies simply because they came across my blog and liked my content. Not sure if blogging is for you? Check out this post to find out!
Do you work from home? I’d love to hear your personal experience, and how you generate an income from home!
Freelance writing is the best in my opinion!
It’s definitely a great option, and one I enjoy. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
