This year has been a huge whirlwind for me. I closed the door on my VA business, formed new friendships, and started this blog which has grown in ways I could have never imagined.
When I look back at all these things, I feel blessed and grateful for all the amazing experiences. However I must admit, it all came with a hefty price tag. It meant working crazy long hours to keep things running. This also meant spending less time with my family or doing the things I enjoy.
The other day, I picked up a book and read a few chapters. It felt AMAZING. You see, I’m a self-proclaimed book nerd, but for the past several months I haven’t had the time to simply enjoy a good book. It’s things like this that keep reminding me that I need to slow down. Sometimes we get caught up in chasing something “big” that we miss the opportunity to enjoy the small blessings we already have.
The New Year is a great time to set new goals, but I personally only have one this new year. Living with intention.
What this simply means for me is forming an even deeper relationship with my kids, my husband and God. It also means saying no the things that will yield no meaningful value to allow space for the things that are truly important to me. Having a successful career and money can be nice, but not when it’s at the expense of your peace of mind and quality of life.
As you reflect back on this past year, please ask yourself the following: What if this was the last year I had on this earth? Would I have done things differently? I personally couldn’t stop thinking about this.
I recently read this post by Kara Tippetts, a brave and beautiful mom that knows all too well what it’s like to cherish life’s precious moments and live with intention. Her words and story reminded me that our journey is not our own. We can determine what path we want to take in life only to find out that God has a different path laid out for us.
Going forward I hope that in this new year you make it a point to love more, live with intention and enjoy the wonderful blessings you already have. I’m excited to see what this new year has in store and I can’t wait to go on this journey with all of you. Wishing you all a rocking 2015.
That is great. I wish you all the best in the New Year. I know how tough it is to try to balance everything. I’m rooting for ya! š
Iād love it if you linked this up over at Saving Money Never Goes Out of Style for Frugal Friday this week!
Well said. I want to do the same. I’m doing a lot of reflecting on how I want this next year to unfold – or rather, how I want my actions and choices to influence the year. Thanks for giving me something more to ponder!
Happy New Year to you and yours!!
I love the idea of focusing on living with intention. There are truly so many things in our lives that are so easy to take for granted or forget that they are important. Each and every day is important, our loved ones are important, helping others is important. I wish you all the best in the coming year xx
