In case you missed the initial post; I’m currently doing a 30 day purge challenge where I choose five items each day that I have to donate, sell or trash.
Can I just say that y’all are so encouraging to me. When I get a comment here or on Facebook telling me that this challenge serves as motivation to you, it totally makes my day. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to encourage and help motivate you. It’s something I never take for granted.
So the purging bug has truly sunk in around here. My teen daughter is also in purge mode and did an amazing job in clearing out her closet. I wish I could have counted some of her stuff for the purge challenge, but I would feel guilty since it wasn’t my doing. 🙂
To sell or not to sell? That’s the million dollar purging question.
If your items are in good condition and you think it will sell easily, definitely try to sell it. However, if you’re unsure that it will sell or you know someone that you can bless with it, you’re better off donating it. I find that when I hang on to something because I want to make some of the money back that I spent on it, I wind up losing time. Why? Because I wind up handling the item twice since I have to try to sell it and deal with potential buyers that may not even wind up purchasing it. Sometimes it’s easier to cut our loses and move on. I also find that donating to charities or others that are in need, is way more fulfilling than making a few dollars.
This weekend I started going through my toddler’s clothes. I seriously think she has enough clothing articles to cover the full 30 days of the challenge. Now there are two reasons for that: 1. Grandparents that buy her too much clothes and 2. I haven’t gone through her clothes in a while, so there was a good bit in her drawers and closet.
So for the next few days you’ll probably notice that I’m purging baby items and clothes. It’s been long overdue and I’m happy to give it all away to a few new moms.
So what did I purge yesterday and today? Here’s the breakdown: 3 pairs of shoes, 1 drawer organizer, 1 Diaper Genie, 1 small plastic bin, 1 piggy bank, 1 baby comb, 1 nasal aspirator and 1 baby thermometer for a total of 10 items.
All of these items are being donated to two moms that are friends of our family.
How is the weekend treating you? Are you working on purging a specific area of the home? I would love to hear your progress and plans, so feel free to comment below!

Ooo, I could have never gotten rid of the drawer cart unit – those things are always so handy! But, the reality is if you are able to have less stuff in general, the need for those carts goes away! That’s a lesson I’ve yet to fully learn, ha!
