Easy Birthday Party Decor For Any Theme

Celebrating your child’s birthday can be fun and exhausting. Hosting doesn’t come natural to me, so I tend to get overwhelmed with all the planning and preparations. However, I find that keeping it simple is the way to go. As long as my kids have a birthday cake, friends, food and a few gifts, they’re happy.

Today I want to share some of my favorite ways to customize and decorate a birthday party. These ideas are easy and don’t require a lot of time or money. I’ll also be sharing Hershey’s new birthday products that are dressed in their party-best. I even created a fun party favor and craft that would be perfect for a princess-themed party.

Balloons

You can’t go wrong with balloons. It’s a simple and inexpensive way to add pops of color to any birthday party. I like selecting at least 2-3 colors depending on the party theme.

Cake

If you’re having a party, you’re probably serving cake or cupcakes. You can either purchase a cake decorated with your child’s birthday theme or customize it yourself. I like to purchase a plain white frosted cake and add the decor myself. I have used real flowers, colored sugar and other small toys to customize my children’s birthday cakes.

Tableware

Instead of buying custom themed birthday plates and cups, choose disposable tableware in a solid color. For a princess party, you could buy pink and purple. Or for a superhero party, you can choose a color based your child’s favorite character.

Food

This is one of my favorite ways to add a personal touch to a party. I like to offer snacks and treats that tie in the theme of the party. For example, if you’re having a princess theme party you can serve pink lemonade, fruit with strawberry yogurt or even sandwiches cut out into stars. Keep it simple and fun.

I wrapped it up with cellophane wrap and tied with colorful ribbons.

I also created princess wands using a small wooden dowel, craft paint, ribbons and Hershey’s Kisses Chocolates. Simply paint the wooden dowel with purple or pink paint, glue the chocolate on one end along with a few ribbons. It’s a fun and simple craft idea that even kids can create.
