Game Day Recipe: Walking Tacos-A simple and easy to make recipe that will become a family favorite on game days or parties!

We are well into the football season which means that our food menu has also changed. I’ve always talked about the importance of spending time with our familia. In our home, food is one of the things that brings us together and currently my boys are really into game day foods. However, my time in the kitchen is limited since our son also plays football. So anything that’s easy to make and keeps them satisfied, gets added to our meal plans. I also enjoy that most of these recipes are not very messy. Am I the only one with kids that can manage to create a mess out of thin air?

One of our favorite game day recipes is walking tacos. I never heard of walking tacos until we purchased one at one of my son’s football games. To think that such a simple concept could be so yummy! My son loves eating these, and during football season I make sure I make them more frequently. I still can’t believe how quickly he’s growing up. *sigh*

Game Day Recipe: Walking Tacos

Taco meat:
1 lb. of ground beef
1/2 onion diced
1/4 cup of taco seasoning
3/4 cups of water
1 teaspoon of minced garlic

Nacho cheese chips (8-1 oz bags)

Shredded lettuce
Diced tomatoes
Chunky style salsa
Shredded cheese (taco blend)
Sour cream

In a large skillet, cook ground beef on medium to high heat until it has browned well. Drain fat and add diced onions. (I like to cook onions for a bit before adding to the meat)

Add 1/4 cup of taco seasoning and 3/4 cups of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer until taco mixture thickens.

Next, take a bag of nacho cheese chips and add 2-3 tablespoons of the taco meat. Add desired toppings and enjoy!

I typically set up a taco bar area, so everyone can make their own. It keeps the food contained to one area which makes cleaning up a bit easier.
