Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays-Day 7 {15 Day Challenge}

Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays-Day 7 {15 Day Challenge}-Get your home ready for the holiday season with this 15 day challenge! For today's challenge we are focusing on the master bedroom.
Welcome to Day 7 of the Get Your Home Ready For The Holidays Challenge! Today I focused my efforts on the master bedroom. I’m pretty good about purging regularly so I didn’t have a ton to work on in this space. However, I wanted to still get some things done since I’m in the middle of updating our bedroom and I want a clean slate to start with.

Since I plan on revealing a before and after of what my bedroom will look like in a future post, I can’t share any photos today (sorry!). But I will give you a quick breakdown on the tasks I focused on, so you can get some inspiration for your own bedroom space.

  • Store summer clothes in a bin. (we have a tiny closet)
  • Clean area behind/under the bed.
  • Clean behind furniture.
  • Wipe down light switches and fixtures.
  • Wash all bedding (this a great time to flip your mattress).
  • Wash all curtains (I currently don’t have any up since I’m changing the decor)
  • Purge and organize side table drawers.
  • Vacuum carpet (I will be shampooing them in the near future).
  • Wipe and dust all surfaces.

One thing I made sure to tackle was a corner of the bedroom where I kept a laundry basket. Now this wasn’t done on purpose. Since I do laundry on a daily basis, the basket would always wind up in my bedroom at some point. It became a catch-all basket and things (besides clothes) were winding up in there. So now it’s completely gone and won’t be making it’s way back in. If you find that there’s a space in the bedroom that attracts clutter, tackle it before it gets out of control.

Your bedroom should be your own little personal retreat, so keeping it clean and de-cluttered is key to enjoying your space. I also like to add my favorite candles to enhance the space plus it makes the room smell great. If you can afford nicer bedding and pillows, please go for it. Considering we spend a big chunk of our lives in our bedroom, I think it’s only fair that we treat ourselves a little. I can typically snag some great comforter sets on sale by keeping an eye out when items are being changed between seasons.

What are your plans for today? Any big house projects on your to-do list? As always, I love hearing from you!
