Last week we had a strong line of storms come through our area. Not only did the storms cause structural damage in our area, it also knocked out the internet connection which cut out all communication.

This is the reason I love Comcast’s initiative to connect low-income families, elderly, and military veterans in the U.S., to the internet through its Internet Essentials program. Internet Essentials from Comcast is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive high-speed Internet adoption program that provides low-cost, high-speed Internet service for $9.95 a month plus tax.
The program has already helped connect over six million low-income Americans to the internet! The program also offers the option to purchase an Internet-ready laptop or desktop computer for under $150 once you become an Internet Essentials customer.
The Learning Center, a new addition to the program, provides free online resources and in-person classes to help you continue your digital education. The online tutorials include Online Security and Safety, Education Resources, Art and Design, and even Employment Resources.
I also checked out the free classes being offered in my local area and found a variety of classes that included Internet & Email Basics as well as Introduction to Microsoft Office.
