This post is short and sweet since this was very much a spur-of-the moment thing. Earlier today I was picking up the kitchen while helping my son with his homeschool assignment. I looked around and started to notice that several items had snuck their way into the kitchen. Some items were from our recent family trip to Florida, while other items where simply random things that belonged to the kids or myself. I loathe clutter. I have a hard time focusing or being productive if there’s a ton of stuff in a room. Although I’m typically proactive about getting rid of clutter, I know that it’s something that needs to be done frequently otherwise it sneaks back in.
So I’m challenging myself (and you!) to join me in a 30 Day Purge Challenge and get rid of five items every single day for the next 30 days. You can either donate the items, sell them, or toss them out. I plan on sharing what five items I purged and what I did with them. My goal is to make it a daily habit, so that I don’t have to set aside a day to purge or wait until a new season begins to go on a purging spree. I think that embracing a minimalist lifestyle has truly helped my desire to live with less, but I also know that it requires forming certain habits in order to continually get rid of the excess.
I would love it if you joined me along with others, here or on Facebook, and shared your progress. Thirty days from now you’ll be so glad you did, and I can assure you that you’ll be gaining much more than what you got rid of.
**Update!**
Here are my five items for Day 1: Four candle holders/decoration stands and an old netbook. I gave away the candle holders and the netbook has zero hope, so it’s getting pitched.

I am in! I have been trying to gather stuff each day for our neighborhood yard sale next week. It’s amazing how much we hang on to that we don’t need.
I would love to have you join Julie! A yard sale is a great motivation to get started. Can’t wait to hear about it! 🙂
