In case you missed the initial post; I’m currently doing a 30 day purge challenge where I choose five items each day that I have to donate, sell or trash.
Did check out my major weekend purge in yesterday’s post? It felt amazing to get rid of that much stuff. Like I mentioned yesterday, it has become a lot easier to find things to get rid of. This challenge is forcing me to look beyond the obvious and dig deeper. Even a fairly clutter-free home has plenty of items that can be purged. You simply have to find it.
What are some of the challenges I’ve faced?
Not knowing what to do with some of the items I’m purging. Because I try to get rid of junk pretty often, the items I’m finding are either in decent shape or have some value. So then I have to decide whether or not I’m going to donate or sell it. I almost always donate since I don’t have a great deal of time to fuss with yard sales or posting items online. The few that I do decide to sell make the cut because I don’t know who/where to donate it to, and I also know they will sell fast. Otherwise, they would have been donated.
So what five items did I get rid of today? 2 baby toys, 1 baby booster seat (not shown), 1 infant car seat and 1 lamp.
I plan on selling the baby items since I don’t know anyone that’s having a baby and most donating centers won’t accept these baby items. The lamp is being donated to someone I know.
Are you following along? If you’re quietly keeping up, I just want to cheer you on and encourage you to keep at it. The benefits will far outweigh the time you have to spend on purging. 🙂
