31 Days To A Clutter Free Life Day 21: Laundry Room & Linen Closets

Welcome to Day 21 of the 31 Days To A Clutter Free Life Challenge! If you want to find out what the challenge is all about or would like to read the previous posts, simply go here.

Today’s challenge will be focusing on the laundry room and linen closets. I’m lucky to have both of these spaces combined. For this challenge my main goal was to organize the space and get rid of the things that I don’t need. As you’ll see in the photos below, the space is not in bad shape but it could use a little attention. It’s amazing how even a few changes can make a huge difference in a space.

Ruth of Living Well Spending Less offered some of great tips for today’s challenge:

1. Remove and put away any items that belong in other rooms. If necessary, use a basket to collect items, then distribute them to their proper homes.

2. Sort and declutter. Remove all items from the closet and cupboards. Spray and wipe out shelves and line with shelf paper. Toss any cleaning supplies or products that are not being used or no longer any good. Limit cleaning and laundry supplies to the bare minimum.

3. Keep two sets of sheets per bed—the one on the bed and a spare, which should be rotated and laundered once a week. Discard sheets when they become worn. Sheet sets should be folded together—folding the flat sheet into the fitted sheet with one pillowcase and placing the set inside the second pillowcase. This method of folding makes it easy to grab the entire set and keep it together.

My laundry/linen room was not in bad shape, but some things needed to be dealt with (like the clothes that have been sitting on top of the dryer for several days!).

Not a huge change, but I certainly noticed the difference and I’m happy with the results. I wanted to get rid of more curtains, but these were a bit pricey so I plan on asking my mom if she wants them. How did you do with today’s challenge? There’s only 10 more days left of the challenge so hang in there!
